Sam Samuels

Tito and Maria are brilliantly portrayed by Sam Samuels and Lisa Abend. They step onto the stage with intensity and energy as a bickering couple, with an emphasis on heavy Italian accented English.

Bass Larry Picard cut an imposing figure as Judge Turpin, and Sam Samuels oozed oily menace as his henchman, Beadle Bamford. Their duet, Ladies and Their Sensitivities, showcased Samuels's fluid falsetto.

I’ve seen Sam Samuels several times before in his turns with New Century Theatre, especially notable was his performance as a Russian diplomat in A Walk in the Woods in 2019.  Back then I marveled at his spot-on Russian accent, as I did tonight as he made the most of Charles Ludlam’s 1967 Victorian melodrama script.

Samuels pulls off a perfect Russian diplomat’s accent, he looks impeccable in the suits, and comported himself just as I’d expect a Russian would.

Sam Samuels’ gregarious Andrey is a Slavic pessimist with a mischievous streak.
